2021 President's Welcome
Dear Mazenod Football club supporters
The MOCFC AGM was held on Wednesday the 14th October via a ZOOM meeting with over 30 participants in what was our first AGM online. It certainly made it easy for all to enjoy. The executive committee for season 2020 were lead by Gerry Noone who resigned as president as was the plan and all positions were made vacant. I am please to announce that we have a complete and expanded executive committee for 2021.
President – Matt Backhouse (New)
Secretary – Paul Deegan
Treasurer – Dominic Barker
VP Admin – Steve Mann
VP -Football – Peter McKenzie/Marty O’Driscoll
VP Social – Blair Bunter/Francis Palleschi (New)
At this point, I would like to welcome Blair and Francis who have raised their hands to be involved as the new VP Social and will run all our social functions which such an important part of connecting our club. I would also like to thank the rest of the exec committee who have raised their hands again for another season.
Our return to training and playing is to be determined by AFL VIC and the VAFA. At this point in time we don’t have the authority to gather to train but as soon as we do, I know a training schedule is being organised amongst the coaching staff so they are ready.
I am also aware the preseason individual training programs are being organised and zoom meetings are being held with the players to prepare their bodies after a season of no football. This will see us get through the next season.
We welcome the newly appointed senior coach Peter Banfield to the club for the next 2 season and All our coaches are in place for the Seniors, Reserves, Women’s Seniors, Women’s Reserves and the under 19s. We have appointed a full line up for these teams with line coaches and assistants and all we need now is a 3rds coach and a second 19s coach.
On a final note, for my first newsletter, I want to personally thank Gerry Noone, for taking the reins in a tumultuous time at the end of 2019, having a plan for the club, executing the plan and then steering the club through the most difficult time, with COVID 19 and a non-season. Gerry spent countless hours organising finances, sponsorship, player recruiting, coaches setting up well being programs and most importantly, leading our club. Thank you.
Onward and upward to 2021 and an awesome season ahead
Cheers
Matt
